Who was Dame Nellie Melba? |
Why does her story matter today? |
She was the world's first superstar opera diva, hailed as "The voice of the [19th] century". You might have seen her as a "guest" on Downton Abbey (ironically, she was the only real historic person on the show).
Is this an opera or a play? This is a play (with a few operatic excerpts). There are many accents in the show: Australian, German, Scottish, French, Italian, and British.

Women today are still grappling with the question: Can a woman have it all? Dame Nellie faced these same questions over a hundred years ago.
I AM COTTONWOOD asks the question...What responsibility does a brilliantly gifted woman have to God and to the world to use her talents, when the cost is her family?
